Tap dance is a transcendent, joyful, and exciting art form as diverse in makeup as it is in audience and as fast-paced in innovation as it is in choreography. Local nonprofit Stepology hoofs toward another milestone with an annual week-long festival dedicated to tap's preservation, promotion, and performance. The Bay Area Tap Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with a series of cutting-edge workshops, panel discussions, and performances. This year’s event sees the return of former favorites Channing Cook Holmes (Riverdance), Jason Rodgers (Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk), and the Barbary Coast Cloggers. The festival culminates with the Bay Area Rhythm Exchange, an annual dance concert featuring today’s top tap talents and live musical accompaniment -- featured artists include Sam Weber, Lamont Keller, Maya Kronfeld, and more. This raw collection of styles is sure to be a real kick.
