NO CHAPTER 7
TERRITORIAL PISSINGS
BAD HOUSE KEEPING
PUNKY BREWSKI
Borderlands pays the bills: Thank you so much for mentioning Borderlands Books ("Browsing San Francisco's Best Bookstores," Scott Esposito, 10/8/15). As the owner, I really appreciate it. But I'd like to clarify that we were not, at any time, in danger of bankruptcy. We were planning on closing in March because the increased cost of doing business resulting from increases in San Francisco's minimum wage would have made the business financially non-viable. We have always paid our bills on time, and we have always been solvent. Alan Beatts
Tech wrecks homes, ruins art: We were already here. Why not find a place where nobody is? Why throw somebody out of a home? ("Boom and Bus," Joe Fitzgerald Rodriguez, 10/8/15). You people are supposed to be so innovative. I haven't seen anything from this crowd except a bunch of spoiled sheep. You look the same, talk the same, and turn art into blinky lights. Frankie714
Landlords are parrots: The usual flock of trained parrots show up every time there is an article related to people trying to stay in their home ("After Supervisor Christensen Downplays Eviction 'Horror Stories,' Twitter Lashes Out," Jeremy Lybarger, The Snitch, 10/8/15). Every human, and every animal, will fight if you try to invade his/her/its home. But the trained parrots hate people who try to stay in their homes. And they also hate them when they end up homeless. Ethan Davidson
Landlords are sheep: If you buy rental property in San Francisco, and it falls under rent control, you know what you are getting into. It is a commercial property if you have renters. There are rules. You don't get to change the rules after your tenants have paid you for years and years, just to "cash in" because speculators have shown up to eat all of San Francisco. Wake up sheeple. KlayAchin'
Landlords are not guardian angels: When you rent an apartment, it is not for life. A lot of these so called Ellis Act evicted have been in the same apartment for decades and are paying hundreds, if not thousands, under market rent. The landlord is not your guardian angel who is supposed to allow you to live at below market rates for the rest of your life. Oldfart
Sober reflections on heroism: Nothing good can come from bar hopping — and here's the result ("The Sacramento Native Who Helped Foil a French Train Attack Was Stabbed This Morning," Jeremy Lybarger, The Snitch, 10/8/15). If he hadn't already been lauded as a "hero," he'd just be considered another punk. Sun
