If you were listening to techno in the 1990s, you know John Digweed — he and his erstwhile DJ partner Sasha essentially invented the commercially-available mix CD, culminating in their wildly successful series of Global Underground mix CDs, which made the sounds of nightclubs around the world available to any and all. Digweed made his name DJing "progressive house," a chord-heavy, melodic ancestor to what is now commonly referred to as tech-house. His sound is unabashedly "big room" — designed for huge clubs and packed dancefloors — so whereas subtlety may not be the name of the game here, Digweed is nonetheless a passionate and talented DJ, one of the few who has been in the game for decades.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
