Santa Cruz’s greatest export, the wonderfully funky Brazilian dance group SambaDá, has grown its fan base through word-of-mouth and consistently putting on a spectacular live show. Even if you don’t speak Portuguese (the language the band sings in), you’ll still have yourself one helluva time at its upcoming show to celebrate the new release, Ritual. Led by singer and guitarist Papiba Godinho, along with the luscious vocal stylings of Dandha Da Hora, this group serves up a healthy offering of hip-shaking music that is bound to ignite dancefloors wherever it plays. And while the band has played Outside Lands, toured with Ozomatli, and opened for numerous national acts, a headlining show at The Chapel is the best place to experience SambaDá live. Bring some merchandise money because by the end of the night you’ll want the new CD and a colorful new T-shirt for your wardrobe.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
