Meshell Ndegeocello has packed plenty of stylistic hairpin turns into a two-decade career, from her hip-hop debut to her more recent forays into quiet-storm-jazz-meets-avant-funk instrumentals. Though fusion heavyweights like Pat Metheny appear on her latest effort, The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams, her current band wraps her ruminations on religion and race in electronic atmospheres and spacey guitar grooves that recall Jimi Hendrix at his highest orbit.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday.
