Rescuing RasCue

Aiming to help S.F. DJ RasCue (Frank Quattlebaum) with the cost of a kidney transplant, his friends in the hip-hop scene are coming together to throw a “ResCue” benefit. Prominent artists J-Boogie, Dilated Peoples, Azeem, Rasco, and members of Hieroglyphics (Opio, Casual, Pep Love, Phesto) perform live for an extremely value-packed price, the proceeds of which will help offset RasCue’s future medical bills. The solid lineup is indicative of the community love people have for the DJ. Collective spirits lift at “ResCue” on Thursday, June 25, at Temple. 10 p.m., $12; 978-9953, or — Tamara Palmer

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
