THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY (June 26-29): Rob Marshall's "musical for people who hate musicals" (as Miramax advertised the film late in its run), Chicago (2002) Thurs-Sat 3 p.m.; Sun 7 p.m.

STANFORD

221 University (at Emerson), Palo Alto, (650) 324-3700, www.stanfordtheatre.org. $6. This handsomely restored neighborhood palace usually screens pre-1960 Hollywood fare in the best available prints, with excellent projection and a courteous staff.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY: The Stanford commemorates Gregory Peck with two of his most beloved films, To Kill a Mockingbird (Robert Mulligan, 1962; 7:30 p.m. ) and Roman Holiday (William Wyler, 1953; 5:15, 9:50 p.m. ), wherein he's investigated by Sen. Victor Moore.

SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY: It's about sand -- David Lean's epic Lawrence of Arabia (U.K., 1962) 7:30 p.m.; also Sat & Sun 2 p.m.

WEREPAD

FRIDAY (June 27): A doc of late Elvis, Elvis on Tour (Robert Abel and Pierre Adidge, 1972), screens with Ann-Margret as The Swinger (George Sidney, 1966). $8 9 p.m.

YERBA BUENA CENTER FOR THE ARTS

DAILY: Continuous-loop screenings of three DVDs, part of the visual arts exhibition "Time After Time: Asia and Our Moment," run through July 13 -- From China, Chinese Utopia and Living Elsewhere, plus Haunted Houses, on Thai soap operas 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

WEDNESDAY (June 25): A Bay Area Video Coalition "Evening of Work With Jed Riffe" screens her work-in-progress on medical marijuana, Waiting to Inhale. Filmmaker in person. $7 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY (June 29): Rails, Part 3 of Chinese filmmaker Wang Bin's nine-hour documentary about an industrial region in northeast China, Tie Xi Qi: West of the Tracks (2003). $6 1 p.m.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
