RedLine

The word "redline" refers to pushing something to its limit. That's precisely what RedLine promoters and resident DJs UltraViolet and Kozee have been doing to dubstep, electro, and other bass-heavy music at their monthly Makeout Sessions. The club night is a regular fixture at Showdown bar (formerly Matador) on Sixth Street, where local and international producers drop in to drop big dubplates. A typical session causes sweaty bodies to mosh, punters to shout "rewind," and shot glasses to slap the countertop as DJs stoke riotous fun. For their Holiday Party at the Dark Room, the ladies go big with S.F. hip-hop and dubstep producers Matty G and Roommate, LA Smog crew DJ Pawn, and MC Audio Angel.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
