Last fall, San Francisco State University made the excellent move of hiring ZZ Packer on a tenure track in the fiction program. "Faculty and students felt that ZZ Packer could bring fresh insights to our program with her interests in narratology, the shape and structure of fiction, and her exceptional writing," said Chair of Creative Writing Maxine Chernoff. Packer, a former Stegner Fellow who was included in the New Yorker's 2010 20 Under 40 list, is the author of international best-selling story collection Drinking Coffee Elsewhere and is a favorite workshop leader. Angela Pneuman, also a former Stegner Fellow and is currently a visiting lecturer at Stanford University, will join Packer in this rare prose reading at The Poetry Center. Both authors have had work featured in the Best American Short Stories collection.
