The RADAR reading series, going strong for more than a decade, features a diverse group of artists every month. For this installment, though, the cast is particularly interesting: all artists who work in the visual realm. New York-based Ariel Schrag, in addition to publishing a novel with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Adam), has written several graphic novels, autobiographical comics, and scripts for HBO and Showtime. Cate White is a recent Headlands Center for the Arts Fellow and the author of what she calls a graphic journal book series, The Book of Life. Kari Orvik, a photographer and tightrope walker, is also a recent graduate of the Headlands program; she’s set up public portrait studios all over S.F. and now has her own tintype studio. Painter and dog trainer Jaime Niedermeier has written a feature-length film and a couple of plays, which ran at the Bartell Theater in Madison, Wis. All told, there are pretty good odds that someone will take advantage of the library’s multimedia system. And, to all who ask a question at the artist Q&A that follows these readings: a fresh baked good, courtesy of Michelle Tea.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
