Pull My Lobster

Wednesday, Feb 25 2009
Pure Shock Value is the latest stage production from sketch comedy troupe Killing My Lobster, and it concerns the adventures of a group of low-budget filmmakers. Those filmmakers have a film, Barking Spiders, which is variously described on the characters’ blog as “Mars Attacks! meets Superbad meets Where Rats Go To Die” and “a gross-out comedy with echoes of Mars Attacks! and Raising Arizona.” Brilliantly, Killing My Lobster has a trailer for the fake film (but only that), which is available online; it makes us think of El Mariachi, Clerks, and Men in Black. And maybe Mars Attacks!, a little bit. Note to our brethren who joined us in weeping with laughter at Pangea 3000’s fart spelling bee during Sketchfest last month: It's not called Barking Spiders for nothing.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 26. Continues through March 22, 2009

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
