PRETTY WOMAN

When: Fri., May 29, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: 5
www.paramounttheatre.com
Ruthless corporate takeover attorney Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) gets more than he bargained for when he hires Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts), a lovely lady of the evening, as his escort. A one-night-stand turns into week after week of makeovers as Vivian is transformed into the woman that Edward thinks he wants. Director Garry Marshall took what might have been a sordid hackneyed parody of Pygmalion and turned it into a sweet, innocent, and warm-hearted tale of love and redemption. Julia Robert’s performance as an utterly adorable hooker-with-a-heart launched her into Hollywood's A-List and the chemistry between her and Richard Gere made this film easily the most memorable romantic comedy of the 1990s. Movie classics feature 35mm film prints, a newsreel, cartoon, previews, Dec-O-Win raffle, and a live Wurlitzer organ serenade. Purchase advance tickets here and enter to win a pair of tickets here. Tickets available at the Paramount Box Office on movie night.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
