Sierra Ensemble is an innovative violin, French horn, and piano trio committed to furthering the art of chamber music. Performing worldwide and throughout the United States since 1998, Sierra Ensemble’s mission seeks to build community via composer commissions, education projects, and accessible performances. Sierra Ensemble was the winner of CEC ArtsLink and U.S. Department of State grants for the ensemble’s project, the Turkish American Composers Project, in 2013. Current engagements include commissioning composers Russell Steinberg and Aida Shirazi, expanding the horn trio repertoire with world premier performances in 2017-18. Janis Lieberman, horn; Randall Weiss, violin; Marc Steiner, piano.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
