Play Hard

Wednesday, Oct 27 2010
Think of it as a first-person runner. You're a character just like you, on a mission in your own city, to search out weird stuff some open-source gamer freaks thought up to keep you busy. You can feel the air pumping through your lungs — good thing you brought water and wore springy soles. Just watch out for the catchers, who were once just like you, but who've risen from the “dead” to “eat” your “brain.” Journey to the End of the Night is a production of SF Zero, a, um, Internet thing, group, or idea ... the point is, 600 costumed people showed up last year to dash around looking at stuff, figuring puzzles, and generally appreciating a funny, collaborative, hometown-lovin' competition. You better believe the afterparty rules, and you can get there only by playing the game.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
