Pink Mammoth: Party Preview

Now in its third year, Burning Man theme camp Pink Mammoth is hosting a massive 16-hour indoor-outdoor block party fundraiser for its annual outing to the playa. And while Burning Man parties tend to be notably Burner-centric, rarely featuring "outsider" DJs, this year Pink Mammoth has gone all out and is bringing out a stacked lineup to headline its block party. House legend Derrick Carter leads the pack; the man is pretty much the embodiment of Chicago house music. He's joined by J.Phlip, a San Francisco native and part of local tech-house label Dirtybird; Jon Charnis, an up-and-comer affiliated with Lee Burridge's All Day I Dream imprint; and local hero David Harness, whose history with house music runs deep.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
