Phono del Sol: Festival Preview

Phono del Sol seems to be getting bigger and better every year. The Bay Bridged and Tiny Telephone's festival, now in its fifth year, is headlined by indie rockers Tanlines and heavy-indie shredder King Tuff (!!!). Tuffy is a flat out guitar aficionado and his riffs are gonna rattle all the way from the park into the Mission. Local mainstays Sonny & The Sunsets are also on the bill, as is local riser Heartwatch (formerly The Tropics), fresh off completing their soon-to-be-released second EP.

Get there before lunch and hit up one of the many food trucks. Among the choices are Mozzeria Pizzeria's on-site, brick-oven pizza, the sinful Bacon Bacon's ... errr ... bacon things, and if you're on that veggie or gluten free hang (me right now ... sigh ... no really, it's actually not that bad) Hella Vegan eats will also be in the mix. And oh yeah, there'll also be a fucking beer garden! I'm in.

The full band lineup for Phono del Sol includes Tanlines, King Tuff, Sonny & The Sunsets, Generationals, Vérité, Heartwatch, Marriages, Mas Ysa, Everyone Is Dirty, Tiaras, and Scary Little Friends, plus food trucks from Bacon Bacon, Bobcha, Ebbett's Good to Go, Hella Vegan Eats, Little Red Riding Truck, Mozzeria Pizzeria, Post Street Creamery, Sajj Street Eats, Tacos San Buena, and Voodoo Van.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
