Despite the American name, Phoenix is a French band. And to further confuse things, the group's fourth and most recent album has a cheeky Viennese nod to it. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix weaves bright, jangly guitar pop; English vocals; and a modern sonic edge with retro-inspired lyrics ("Lisztomania" and "1901"). Phoenix is touring with the Soft Pack, the rock group formerly known as the Muslims, which changed its name earlier this year after much aggravation from a confused public.

Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
