PFFR Goes Out of Bounds

Wednesday, Sep 22 2010
You want weird? You want absurd? You want to laugh at things that will make you sure you’re going to hell for thinking they’re funny? Then you’ll probably like what PFFR has to offer. Its members are Alyson Levy, Vernon Chatman, Jim Tozzi and John Lee. They’re associated with the TV shows Wonder Showzen, Xavier: Renegade Angel, and Delocated, but a number of them (more on this in a minute) will be on hand at the Roxie to present “rarities, hilarities, failures and other past thingys,” according to the group’s website. The works include 16mm efforts from Chatman and Lee’s days at San Francisco State, avant garde fetish porn (can’t wait to see what that is), and animation that has appeared on television. As for which members – or how many – will be at the Roxie, that remains a mystery. The Roxie site claims that “3/4” of the group will be there, whereas PFFR’s site says “at least 1/4” will attend. Whoever’s there will take questions, the group says, “but we won’t give back answers.” No matter. We suspect those who attend will be stunned into silence.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
