The sign outside Pete's Deli & Cafe says "The best food in San Francisco since 1969." Popular with the UCSF/Mount Zion crew, this East coast-style mom-and-pop deli keeps diners coming back with staple items served up by a friendly, efficient staff. Try Pete's cheesesteak, the chicken Caesar salad, or the chorizo breakfast burrito. While frequently busy at lunchtime, with lines sometimes out the door, there is plenty of seating indoors at this Lower Pacific Heights spot. Repeat customers know to ask for the "frequent eater" card because Pete buys your lunch after 12 stamps (two stamps on Fridays!).

  • clipping at Brava Theater Sept. 11
Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
