Park It Right Here

Wednesday, Jan 12 2011
Here's how you want your next job interview to go: “Oh, I see you volunteered at the Academy of Sciences?” (warm smile) “I just love that place.” And then you can nod, modestly. “What a great bunch of people they have over there. I had such a good time leading the kids on those tours. These days, I mostly do the Parks Trust work days, you know, to help keep the trails safe and looking their best.” Does it even matter what job you're applying for anymore? You are now a bona fide Nice, Hardworking, Conscientious Pitcher-Inner. The best part is that you really are all those things, if you volunteer for any of the groups waiting to meet you today at the the Golden Gate Park Volunteer Fair. The California Academy of Sciences, the de Young Museum, the Conservatory of Flowers, the Botanical Garden, San Francisco Recreation & Parks, the SF Parks Trust (let's be honest: cutie hiker central), and tons of other good groups: good for the city, good for the planet, and good for you.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
