Parisian Paintings

Wednesday, Apr 20 2011
“Still Standing” is Yisrael Feldsott's latest solo exhibit of paintings. He's notorious for using eclectic media to set his work apart – the use of crushed alabaster, handmade paints, materials from both plants and humans, and medicinal elements can be found in his paintings. The colors in Feldsott's art are vibrant and alluring -- take Feldsott's painting, “Cro.” With all its mixed media, you can't help but enthralled by the gold and yellow serving as the backdrop for a seemingly simple crow. Heavily influenced by artists that came before him – Miro, Chagall, and Dubuffet, Feldsott's art is reminiscent of the fabulous Parisian art scene of the 20th century.
Sundays, 1 p.m.; Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m. Starts: March 13. Continues through May 28, 2011

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
