One-Pear Tree Oasis

Wednesday, Jun 26 2013

Having just last month started a new monthly backdoor reading series, recent California College of the Arts MFAers Crys Lehman and Leonard Crosby host a quadforce of talent for June's One Lone Pear Tree: Miquila Alejandre, Phil Lumsden, Juliana Paslay, and Melissa Kuhn. In case you haven't noticed, house parties are the best kind of parties, especially when there's a yard involved; less than a week from the solstice, this is perhaps the perfect time for an outdoor reading. "Wine, beer, snacky foodstuffs" are all provided, though you are encouraged to bring food, drinks, and/or musical instruments to add to the general (or just your own private) bounty. In addition to an actual pear tree, this yard also has a fire pit, which will be put to good use after and perhaps even during the readings. The One Lone Pear Tree series will continue on fourth Thursdays of each month.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
