On a Rolla

Wednesday, Nov 7 2012
Adam Carolla probably would have never had such a fascinating career in radio and television broadcasting had he not first displayed his talent for comedic timing as the one-off boxing coach to future producing partner Jimmy Kimmel. He found himself in this random role in the mid-90s in order to prep Kimmel for a silly match hosted by LA radio station KROQ, but ended up charming Kimmel’s on-air colleagues. After impersonating an old man called Mr. Birchum on KROQ’s Kevin and Bean show for a while, he ended up dispensing advice to horny teenagers on Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky and later to horny middle-aged men on The Man Show, with a detour into puppets performing pranks on Crank Yankers. He settled into podcasting in 2009 with The Adam Carolla Show, and it has since gone on to earn Guinness World Records-charting downloads. Experience Carolla's uncensored mind firsthand tonight as new episodes of the show are recorded in a comedy club setting.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
