SF Sketchfest is presenting a cool variety show this evening — Rhett Miller, of alt-country band the Old 97's, will host an evening of music, discussion, and jokes with noted comedian and raconteur Paul F. Tompkins as his guest. If you like Texas rock 'n' roll from prolific band leaders, eclectic comedy from experienced humorists, and possibly even sketches from talented sketch comedians, this is the Sketchfest event for you. Those in the know promise that Rhett Miller's variety show is "always a blast," so what do you have to lose? Besides, haven't you heard that Monday is the new Tuesday, which used to be the new Sunday, which is now basically Thursday? It's the perfect night for an old-fashioned music-and-comedy show.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
