ODC Theater presents Amara Tabor-Smith EarthBodyHOME Recommended

When: Thu., Sept. 24, Fri., Sept. 25 and Sat., Sept. 26 2015
Commissioned by ODC Theater, "EarthBodyHOME" is a multi-media dance theater piece. Playing Thursday September 24 through Saturday, September 26th at 8pm. Inspired by Cuban artist Ana Mendieta known for her "Earth Body" works drawing from the goddesses of Afro-Cuban Santeria, Mayan, and Taino mythologies. Bay Area choreographer Amara Tabor-Smith, in collaboration with co-madre/director Dohee Lee, composer Jackeline Rago, video artist Eric Koziol, visual artist Dana Kawano, performers Laura "Larry" Arrington, Zoe Klein, and Xandra Ibarra, present a ritual based performance that weaves together an allegory of exile, disruption, spiritual longing, patriarchy in the art world, and a spirit's return to mother earth.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
