Now and at the Hour Recommended

When: Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Continues through July 26 2014
Price: $15-$25

SF Weekly Mastermind award winner and Bay Area magician Christian Cagigal's show Now and At the Hour begins its final run this week. The one-of-a-kind show combines Cagigal's very personal storytelling with his "slightly creepy" style of magic. It's kind of like Spalding Gray, if Spalding Gray's act had incorporated mind-bending illusions and narrative-based card tricks. Perhaps one could think of it as taking misdirection to new places: The personal nature of the show has been called "disarming." Through Now and At The Hour, Cagigal says he hopes to get people to think about their own pasts and their own personal memories. Maybe you will, maybe you won't, but at the very least, you'll be amazed by the talented magician's illusions.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
