We didn’t know the Kohler company had artists in residence, but why not? Alex Schweder has been that artist three times, essentially earning him the right to make toilet art. If you think that’s funny, you aren't a working artist; experience working with ceramics and plumbing must be liberating, not to mention prestigious. At a new show, “Ours,” Schweder exhibits three large-scale experimental-ish pieces, only one of which is a toilet-urinal hybrid that encourages, shall we say, cooperation between the male and the female genders. (If the artist is lucky, some of our brilliant local transgendered people will comment wittily upon it.) The second work is an installation of exploratory scratch-and-sniff wallpaper, and the third is an inflatable couch you and a friend can sit on, carefully, together. Get up too quickly, and your friend’s butt slams to the floor. Remember, you had to cooperate on the toilet.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
