Mr. T Experience: Show Preview

While he might make more headlines these days (including in this publication) for authoring young adult novels, "Dr. Frank" Portman is first and foremost a legend in the East Bay's punk scene, having founded The Mr. T Experience — arguably the most playful punk band to come out of the culture around 924 Gilman in the '90s. Unlike its peers, MTX has neither blown up in a radio-friendly way nor burnt out or imploded; as a result, the four-piece is still gaining new fans with its energetic, irreverent live show while it throws the older crowd into fits of nostalgic glee. The Queers as an opener will make this an extra-special one: Grab a tall can and check your ego at the door.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
