Years ago, someone said a word, perhaps the word "Wow," that changed everything, because it was the first Christopher Walken impression. We don't know who this person was, or if it was any good. Probably it was bad. But bad Walken can still be good if done without fear -- Walken has no fear, only concern. So we're not too worried if Sean Owens, local playwright and performer extraordinaire, cannot quite handle the actor's alien cadence when he stars in I Am Snowmiser: Walken in a Winter Wonderland. The title, for one, puts us at ease: It's aces. Also, playwright Rhiannon Charisse's story is billed as "magical tale of a man whose only dream was to bring happiness to children," and that's awesome. The play has Walken reliving his career, taking stock of his life for his biographer, played by Sherilyn Connelly, with help from lots of other local talent. All this Walken makes us wonder -- can you do him in print? We do this without fear: “Come, little boy, sit. You rapscallion. Enjoy a holiday delicacy, these wonderful yams. Sugar plums from Borneo, a tribe I know. They'll tear your fucking heart out.”

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
