Modern Love

Wednesday, Apr 17 2013
We remember a time not too long ago when “dating” was no more complicated than a Will Ferrell movie, provided you had enough Miller High Life and Twin Peaks epi-sodes. But now, dating involves hookup apps (Grindr), six-person blind dates (Grouper), and more dating sites than you can shake a stick at. Left Coast Theatre Co. tackles the perilous world of millennial love in I’m Not Ok, Cupid :(, seven comedic one-act plays with an LGBT bent about dating in the hashtag generation (as evidence of its modernity, we think this may be one of the first emojis to ever appear in a play title). Expect a good bitch-slapping (“Goodbye, Cupid”), Olsen twin impersonations (“The Parenthetical Trap”), and modern spins on classics, like Chekhov and Shakespeare. Regardless of your dating proclivities, I’m Not Ok, Cupid :( sure beats the old snoozer known as dinner and a movie.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: April 12. Continues through May 4, 2013

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
