Hear This: Mitski and Elvis Depressedly
You know it's going to be a good show when all the acts could be individual draws on their own.
Mitski and
Elvis Depressedly are coming off some excellent work lately — the former's third album
Bury Me at Make Out Creek was recently re-released on Don Giovanni, matching overdriven feedback pop with a voice that cuts through the echo and screech, while Elvis Depressedly, featuring Coma Cinema's Mat Cothran collaborating with Delaney Mills, has already gotten past the pun of a name through a series of enjoyably low-key (or lo-fi, if you like) releases, including this year's
New Alhambra. But show up early for
Eskimeaux as well — led by Gabrielle Smith, who collaborates with Mitski and others in the collective The Epoch. The band recently released a good album, simply called
O.K., and its rough, understated energy is a perfect complement to the other two acts.
