Mew crafts arty pop songs that never want for drama. The Danish outfit, whose sound is much bigger than its fanbase, has been around since the mid-'90s, but didn't get an album released in the States until 2006's monumental sonic achievement, And the Glass Handed Kites. The group, led by angelic-sounding singer Jonas Bjerre, has continued the trend of sounding like no other act on its new album, No More Stories/Are Told Today/ I'm Sorry/They Washed Away/No More Stories/The World Is Grey/I'm Tired/Let's Wash Away, whose title is as grand as its forward-thinking soundscapes. Mew's live shows do the songs justice and then some, and with the group handpicking Sunday's local opener, it should turn out to be one of the year's highlights.
