Merry? Yeah, We Can Do That

Wednesday, Dec 15 2010
If you can watch a lady do cowgirl rope trick comedy and not laugh, you're impossible. Ninety-nine point nine percent of people think Karen Quest is adorable and makes them go “Wowee! Clap clap clap!” She's an award-winning cowgirl rope trick doer, as a matter of fact, having won the 50-Foot Big Loop contest in Las Vegas a while back. Quest is part of Mittens & Mistletoe, the very best family show on Christmas, along with Jan Damm, Jaron Hollander, SAM Luckey, Eli Halperin, Kerri Kresinski, Coventry & Kaluza, and more from the land of smart, mad-skillz circus performers. The show is all-age-appropriate, so you can bring Grandma if you want; she's probably not among the .01 per cent who'd refuse to giggle at cowgirl rope trick comedy. The deck here is stacked with Pickle Family-alum, Circus-Center-grown type performers who are among the very best at what they do, and Quest makes more cow puns than even that last .01 per cent can refuse to laugh at.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
