Wave Your Flag

Goddamn it, you should do something for Memorial Day. No, don't just watch Saving Private Ryan on Netflix, you nincompoop — the less-than-comprehensive service doesn't have it, anyway. If those Los Gatos clowns had their way, you'd be watching their recommendations: some godawful History Channel documentary or, inexplicably, Top Gun — and we sure as hell are not going to salute Tom Cruise today. As well as honoring fallen troops, this year's Memorial Day festivities in the Presidio are marking the end of war, too, including the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. The 191st Army Band is leading the kickoff grand march with a program and 21-gun salute at the National Cemetery. The cemetery dates back to 1884 and reflects the lengthy military history of the Presidio, which wasn't always just a fun place to jog and pitch a tent. Goddamn it.

Memorial Day festivities kick off with a parade at 10:30 a.m. starting at the Presidio Officers' Club, 50 Moraga Ave., Presidio, S.F. Free; presidio.gov.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
