Mean Boys

Wednesday, Sep 22 2010
Eating meat, or fish, in spite of the fact that they're living, feeling creatures -- “What's the difference between all that and drowning the prom king in the hotel swimming pool?” asks Kevin Camia. And he'll tell you what the difference is, sort of, but certainly with the fury of the righteous: “A fish never went behind my back and tried to give my girlfriend a slow jam tape. Y'know?” Tell it, Kevin Camia! People need to refocus! Tonight, Camia joins the delightful Nico Santos, his partner in ripping on people. Santos' online clips show him cutting down pretty much everyone: “Boys are stupid.” “You remember Aaron Neville? The guy that looks like a thug and sounds like a pussy?” “Girl, your ass ain't juicy. Should not be wearing that.” Which forces us to repeat something that deathless bitch Dorothy Parker is supposed to have said: “If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me."

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
