Englishman Ben Jacobs (aka Max Tundra) and Canadian duo Junior Boys are the perfect tourmates. Both acts record for Domino, prefer esoteric album titles, and find fresh ways to fuse breathy pop and erratic electronics. Max Tundra's output was initially all-instrumental, but last year's Parallax Error Beheads You saw Jacobs experiment with offbeat lyrics and fairly precious singing, especially on the twitchy single "Will Get Fooled Again." Meanwhile, Junior Boys' new album, Begone Dull Care, finds Jeremy Greenspan and Matthew Didemus a bit funkier, but still incredibly nimble and all too worthy of the New Order comparisons.
