Steeped in the seductive and sumptuous sounds that grew out of Germany's Weimar Republic era, Max Raabe & Palast Orchester take the songs, styles, and instrumentation of the 1920s and '30s and bring them into the 21st century. Performing with a clever, coolly detached demeanor, Raabe at times wows with his vocal abilities, and then elicits laughter at others with his deadpan joking between songs. The elegant orchestra plays both traditional German pieces and classics such as "Singin' in the Rain," as well as tongue-in-cheek covers of more contemporary pop tunes like "Sex Bomb" and "Oops...I Did It Again," all making for a one-of-a-kind show not to be missed.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
