Who knows how many diaries of the world you could crack open to see “Dear Diary, my mother has played an important role in my life!” Well. Today’s show, See Mom, I Didn’t Forget, explores the matri-landscape through the voices of a diverse group of women ruminating on their mothers, one at a time. Narratives about adoption and racial identity coexist with stumbling upon Hustler magazines and parachute pants. Whether you had a relationship with your mother that was like Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine in Terms of Endearment or more like feral cats, there is something for you and maybe your ma to grab onto here. It all ends at the same place, as Marlo Thomas famously documented in the song "Parents Are People" in Free to Be You and Me: "Mommies are women, women with children."
