Mastodon: Show Preview

Wednesday, Apr 25 2012

If you think you feel the ground shaking on Friday night, don't be afraid — it's more likely to be Mastodon and Opeth shredding people's faces off than an actual earthquake. The bearded mind-melters from Georgia are co-headlining with the Swedish metal masters Opeth on this tour in celebration of both bands' latest albums, Mastodon's The Hunter and Opeth's Heritage (which is why this is called the Heritage Hunter tour). Expect technical wizardry, riffs heavier than the sinking Titanic, and songs more complex than most brains can handle. If you value your sense of hearing, we'd recommend earplugs for this one — it's going to be louder than war.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
