Markus Schulz

Wednesday, Jul 15 2009

With the internationally syndicated radio show Global DJ Broadcast and the weekly Sirius satellite radio program Evolution, Miami-based Markus Schulz curates the best in trance music for millions of listeners. He also makes some of the prettiest tunes in the genre himself, and reshapes pop stars like Jewel and Madonna in remixes for nightclub play. On his new album, Thoughts Become Things, Schulz recorded as Dakota (a street he lived on during his rave days in Arizona). Under that name, he retains a dancefloor focus with "Re-Swirl" and "Steel Libido," offering melodies to get lost in and beats that won't take "wallflower" for an answer.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
