Make Me One with Everything

Wednesday, Feb 23 2011
Plenty of yoga classes skim over spiritual pursuits in favor of more immediate (butt) results. At Darren Main's Tuesday class, though, the emphasis is on reflection: Yoga on the Labyrinth can't help but be meditative. You're in a Christian church, performing a practice associated with Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, on top of a mediation device originated by ancient Greeks. From one point of view, it sounds like pulling on trouble's braids, but from a different perspective, the experience could well prepare you for a galloping epiphany, or whatever they call it in ancient Greek.
Tuesdays, 6:15 p.m. Starts: March 8. Continues through March 29, 2011

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
