Let’s Do an Experiment

Wednesday, Sep 28 2011
Do you know everything about yourself? Let us provide a personality analysis free of clicking boxes or circling letters in a women’s lifestyle magazine: Possibly, you are an experimental-film lover and you don’t know it. Do you enjoy beauty? Like when it comes to people, gadgetry, the ocean, longing, bicycles with one big wheel and one little one, mixing black-and-white with color, spooky stuff, or music? It’s all right here! Nara Denning is your answer to pleasurable mind-expansion, or whatever it is you do when the world appears to be in its proper place. This woman is of great talent and substance and you should see her short films; tonight at “Under the Pavement” there are five, plus live musical accompaniment from the venerable Classical Revolution. It is hard to imagine who would not be deeply moved by this work — maybe cats wouldn’t care, but they don’t care about anything. You are more than you knew. You are a film buff.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
