Lee Curtiss: Show Preview

Hailing from Detroit, deeply ingrained in Berlin, and well-versed in Chicago, DJ/producer Lee Curtiss is part of a wave of DJ/producers putting hints of funk's hustle back into deep house. A key part of the Visionquest collective and imprint, Curtiss' warm sets funnel through slowly grinding, melodically oozing transitions. When he teases a vocal in there, it's usually high in the mix — a grainy, sexually charged cue to twitch. But this playful phrasing doesn't encroach on his true strength, which is uninhibited, suggestive basslines.
