L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok

Wednesday, Nov 11 2009

London DJ/production duo James Connolly and Alex Sushon — aka L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok — are the latest electronic music team to remind us that subgenre tribalism doesn't mean shit on the dancefloor. Their Night Slugs club night is a bastion of uptempo, bassline-centered, synth-heavy mixes of jungle, electro, drum 'n' bass ,and garage. Between them, they've remixed the cream of the international bass underground, including Portuguese kuduro kings Buraka Som Sistema and U.K. dubstep upstart Untold. They've also released their own tunes on powerhouse labels like Mad Decent.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
