Knit Pick

Wednesday, Aug 29 2012
Ah, the VHS tape. Currently a waste-of-space lick of nostalgia and soon, if not already, to head into the realm of kooky hipster collector item when those "Screw Blu-Ray" movie nights start popping up.But until then we suspect VHS tapes are just collecting dust in your closet, so it's time to clean up and get crafty. Be kind, rewind, and unreel those tapes while guest artist Suzanne Morlock teaches you how to knit little goodies with them! Craft Bar happens on the first Thursday of every month, where participants of all ages can create and meet others enthusiastic about D.I.Y. everything. Of course, no crafting event is complete without a little help from the craft czars over at Etsy, who stream the demonstrations online in virtual labs the day of the event. VHS-tape wrist cuffs probably aren't going to do much to keep you toasty this fall, but you don't need that noisy copy of Jurassic Park for much else. Craft Bar includes refreshments by Trumer Pils and Milk Bar, as well as other local food, musicians, and arts community patrons.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
