Kids of All Ages

Wednesday, Dec 10 2008
It's finally here: the chance to get your grubby mitts on the trapeze of your dreams. Fly through the air with the greatest of ease, at least in your mind. At the San Francisco Circus Center's Open House and Holiday Carnival, that's not all. The famous school of all things three-ring also offers face-painting, trampoline-jumping, and rolla-bolla-rolling for visitors tall and small. The staff teaches miniworkshops on clowning for kids, which could be like a self-defense class or a protective cover, depending on whether your kid has developed a fear of clowns yet. Calliope demonstrations on a real "steam piano" accompany roving performers, and in the evening, the show Pratfalls and Rising Stars features the center's clowning and aerial students.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
