For a certain class of Bay Area cultural connoisseurs, there’s little more thrilling than a perfectly paired wine. Grüner Vetliner with ceviche? Affinity Cabernet and a porterhouse? How about Spellbound Petite Sirah alongside Sunset Boulevard? That’s what's on special tonight at the Wind Down with Wine and a Movie series at Top of the Mark, the skyscraping martini lounge with panoramic views. Starring William Holden and Gloria Swanson, the Academy Award-winning noir classic chronicles the delusions of Hollywood fame and its frightful consequences. With its pitch-perfect portrait of psycho-emotional entanglement and lush black-and-white cinematography, the film is widely recognized as one of director Billy Wilder’s finest. David Lynch says he’s watched it countless times; it’s that dark and juicy, clearly kin to Spellbound Petite Sirah. Other pictures on deck in the Tuesday series include Casablanca, Rear Window, and The Wizard of Oz -- all served up with complimentary vino.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
