Jannah offers homey yet exotic Middle Eastern cooking in comfortable if somewhat nondescript surroundings. A variety of dips are available, including the unusual huhud ghanooj (mashed turnips with date syrup) and mama ghanooj (mashed carrots with tamarind). In addition to kebabs, there are phyllo-dough-wrapped stews, fesenjoon (chicken marinated in pomegranate and molasses), lamb shanks cooked with okra, and maskoof (lightly smoked trout). Desserts include housemade baklava, phyllo dough filled with cardamom-scented whipped cream, and semolina cooked with rosewater and topped with pistachio and chocolate syrup. The chef is Yahya Salih, late of Yaya Cuisine.
