Once upon a time, eclectic and hard-edged DJs were relegated to side rooms at dance venues while main stages were dominated by monotonous trance and crappy house music. Current headlining acts like U.K. duo Jack Beats represent a revenge of the funky. Together, champion turntablists and producers Plus One and Beni G have crafted bombastic remixes for the likes of legendary fellow beathead Diplo, electronic rockers Does It Offend You, Yeah?, and superstar grime MC Lady Sovereign. They're finally bringing their gritty, hip-hop-and-rave–injected mix of electro, breakbeats, and bassline thump to San Francisco.

    Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'.
