It's Sew You

Wednesday, Jul 8 2009
Two words: Hoodie Workshop. Yes! You can make your own hoodie, with the help of the Mission District's famous Latino-oriented art gallery and its six sewing machines, plus all the fixings, like a serger. Sew-Op is at least partly in honor of grandmas who peg your pants, make your prom dress, and more -- "come in and channel the Chanel, the abuela, and/or the Project Runway stitcher of your choice," say the organizers. With a run over a month and a half, the gallery offers those hoodie-making classes plus open studio time, yes, with the serger.
Tuesdays, Thursdays. Starts: July 14. Continues through Aug. 27, 2009

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
